Total Vocal Rest

Aerosmith, the group behind the mega-hits "Dream On" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", had to drop out of the fifth leg of their "Rockin' the Joint" tour as Tyler's doctors told him to give his hit-making voice a rest following the surgery, publicist Marcee Rondan said in a statement. Rondan did not disclose the type of surgery faced by Tyler, who turned 58 on Sunday. "Despite Aerosmith's desire to keep the tour going as long as possible, Tyler's doctors advised him not to continue performing to give his voice time to recover," Rondan said. "He will be on total vocal rest and cannot perform for an extended period of time." Aerosmith includes lead guitarist Joe Perry, rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamiton and drummer Joey Kramer. "The band is now on hiatus but look forward to being back in the saddle with a new album and new tour dates," the publicist said.
